It's a small Anjo (whatever that is) and reminds me so much of Hannah's guitar. Quite comforting! It was only 40 Euro, came with a case, and I can probably sell both back to the store when I leave.. so not a shabby deal! I'm excited to carry on learning guitar, and I'm already picturing sunny days by the river (my case has backpack straps, so on my future bike I can get all over town with my guitar!) The bike is next on the shopping list.. but I am in no hurry as it has gotten wintery overnight here. I can't wait for summer! =D
I also bought a hand blender today so I can make my life juice: morning fruit shakes. Although, I don't think fruit is very affordable here.. hopefully frozen isn't too bad. I'm getting excited about food here. I met some new friends yesterday, and they all seem to like to cook, or at least eat, as much as I do. I met most of them over a good home made bowl of Pumpkin Soup, and some sort of ground beef/koferbohne(A bean of Styria, the region of Osterrich I live in) shit mix I made. I often call my nameless creations shit mixes, which my buddy Christa gets a good kick out of. She also loves "I have to pee like a race horse".
One of the people I met yesterday lives right next door to me; her name is Anna, from Australia. We found we have a lot in common... or rather, she doesn't quite know what she's doing with her Bachelor of Arts degree, and also can't ski/snowboard very well, but switches between the two like me. Hahahaha.... It's funny the things that one can consider linking. We both agreed that being abroad is the best thing we've done with our schooling so far though.
In regard to my day to day life, I have become a computer fiend. Where this would normally be negative, it's actually a positive. I'm starting things I've wanted to for forever. I've been trying to set up an action on Photoshop to copyright my photography quickly, and I think I've almost got it figured. I also started a website for my photography/art. That should be up in the next bit, but for now I think I'll post some pictures for everyone on facebook, although I don't have much! It's not very welcoming to shoot in the cold... After I set up my website, I'm going to re-update my deviant art and get the two linked up.. I'm really excited to finally have a database to organize and display my art. I think the motivation has come not only from solitude, but also fear of going home. Going abroad was always my big plan, and I've realized that if I don't have something going at home, once I get back I'll just feel lost. Starting my website will keep my focus on my art, and keep my soul healthy once I get back!
Although my fine art opportunities here are limited, I have so many photographic opportunities! Not only does every space in this city have so much character, but I also know a couple people who have done modelling. One of them being my roommate. Very excited to work with her!
So this is where my head has been lately. I've also been anxiously trying to plan out my whole time here, but I really can't plan any trips till I know what my classes are like, in March. So much to think about! Missing everyone too, of course!
Full of love,
Nikki
PS, I'm going start the routine of exercising my leg again before I go to sleep. There: it's in writing.
Putting anything in writing makes it more of a commitment. You seem to be so organized inside your head, and moving forward at a dizzying pace. So much to see and do! I love the idea of your photography website, but don't let the cold discourage you. There was a guy set up on the ski hill a few days back, on a cold but sunny day, in exactly the same spot for at least 90 minutes, shooting skiers and across the valley to Begbie. I'm sure he got some stunning shots.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you buy it in Graz? I want one, too, but don't know shops here:)
